With her “large, sweeping voice” and “committed dramatic interpretation,” Carolyn Hoehle is quickly gaining recognition as a young dramatic soprano to watch. The 2019/20 season finds Ms. Hoehle in residency with Austin Opera as the company’s Spotlight Artist where her mainstage responsibilities include Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto and covering the title role in Turandot in addition to being a featured recitalist and artist for outreach performances with the company.
Prior season highlights include Ariadne (cover) in Ariadne auf Naxos with Austin Opera, Aida (cover) and the High Priestess in Aida with Opera Theatre of the Rockies, Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito with LOLA Austin, and partial performances as Senta in Die Fliegender Holländer and Madame Lidoine in Dialogues of the Carmelities with the Vocal Arts Festival in Colorado Springs, CO.
Ms. Hoehle is also a recent finalist of the Palm Springs Opera Guild Vocal Competition, a semi-finalist for the Brava! Valley Vocal Competition, a grant recipient of Opera America’s 2018 Career Blueprints program, and winner of the top artist prize at the 2018 Vocal Arts Festival in Colorado Springs, CO. She currently resides in Austin, TX and is on a personal quest to invoke the full-bodied, fullemotion singing from the golden age of opera and usher it into the present day for both old and new audiences alike.
