Introducing Jennifer Eckes, Vocalist

We are excited to introduce you to Jennifer Eckes, vocalist for our third “Operatunity Theatre At Home” concert on Tuesday, June 16 at 7 pm.

Jennifer Eckes has sung professionally for over two decades. Based in St. Paul, she has performed theatrical roles, as well as musical revues and solo acts at many local venues, including the Ordway Center, Artistry Theater, Plymouth Playhouse, Skylark Opera Theatre, the Minnesota Opera, Bloomington Center for the Arts, Hastings Arts Center, Hanifl Performing Arts Center, Bryant-Lake Bowl, Honey Lounge, and the Nicollet Island Inn.

Jennifer has a B.A. in Vocal Performance from Luther College, but found her passion for the Great American Songbook and cabaret as a fellow at the Cabaret Conference at Yale University in 2003 & 2007, and is a founding member of the Twin Cities Cabaret Artists Network. Her voice has been called “crystalline” and “rock solid” by reviewers, often praised for her warm stage presence and “plain-spoken charm”. Jennifer particularly loves telling the story of a well-written song, using humor and honesty to reach the audience on a personal level.

Operatunity Theatre is a new non-profit opera/musical theatre company with headquarters in Stillwater, MN. The mission of Operatunity Theatre is to produce high quality musical performances in the Twin Cities East Metro (specifically the Stillwater/St. Croix River Valley) area that enrich the arts environment and help amateur artists advance their careers by performing alongside experienced professionals. Our vision is to establish Stillwater and its surroundings as a regional music cultural center with a vibrant community of emerging and professional artists. The goal of the organization is to curate an ongoing regular season of opera/musical theatre productions in Stillwater, including an annual summer music festival, to achieve these ends. We propose providing talented singers from the region the opportunity to gain the stage experience they need move from emerging/amateur status into a full professional career, sustainably bridging the arts in this region to the rest of the nation/world in the process.
